Australian Securities Exchange trading hours
Australian Securities Exchange trades from 10:00 to 16:00 local time in Sydney, which is 23:00 to 05:00 UTC in winter. Below are the exact sessions, the 2026 holiday calendar, and the hours it shares with the other major exchanges.
Trading hours
The first major market to open each week. The local times never change through the year; their UTC equivalent does, and that is the column worth checking if you are watching from another country.
| Session | Local time | UTC (winter) | UTC (summer) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session | 10:00–16:00 | 23:00–05:00 | 00:00–06:00 |
The exchange trades Monday to Friday. It does not open at weekends.
Time zone and daylight saving
Sydney observes daylight saving. Clocks move on 5 April and 4 October 2026, so the local opening time never changes but its UTC equivalent does: UTC+11 in winter, UTC+10 in summer. That one hour is why a session that lines up neatly with yours in January can start an hour earlier or later in July.
Which markets are open at the same time
Overlaps are where the volume is. Two exchanges trading at once means more participants pricing the same news, and orders that move the price less. The figures below are calculated from the official hours, not estimated.
| Market | City | Overlap in winter | Overlap in summer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Korea Exchange | Seoul | 5h | 6h |
| Tokyo Stock Exchange | Tokyo | 4h | 5h |
| Hong Kong Exchanges | Hong Kong | 2h 30min | 3h 30min |
| Shanghai Stock Exchange | Shanghai | 2h | 3h |
| National Stock Exchange of India | Mumbai | 1h 15min | 2h 15min |
Holidays
We do not publish a 2026 holiday calendar for this exchange yet. Rather than guess, we would rather say so: confirm closures on the exchange's own site before relying on them.
